Posted: 02 Mar 2012 10:27 PM PST

Tania Hiraj joined us from the city of Burewala and she is sitting under the tree of amrood in her own guava orchards. She tells that Amrood stands for guava and amrood is called in sub-continent. Amrood is typical of tropics fruit like greenish fleshy fruit pear and it has green tough outer layer and pinkish or white flesh and smallish seeds. Tania tells that Guava has a lot of vitamins and better than orange because it has more vitamin C than orange, also cheaper than orange in market. Guava contains Vitamins A, B, C , calcium, nicotinic acid, iron, fiber and folic acid. Guavas or amrood are native to Central America, Mexico and Northern South America and are gardening and naturalizing throughout the tropics and subtropics in South East Asia, Africa and Hawaii.
